Happy Holidays Hello fellow anglers,

Well the Eastern Sierras are receiving snow on regular bases and more precipitations is predicted in the coming week. We are looking much better than the last three seasons. Still a long way to go before anyone can declare the drought is over. The weather pattern is looking much more favorable for continued precipitation. This week looks pretty chilly with lows in some areas plummeting to near zero and highs in the 20s for the Long Valley area but will moderate as we get into the first week of Dec. If you’re planning on fishing keep and eye on the forecast and be prepared for winter conditions as it can change rapidly. Chains a shovel and extra clothing should be with you if you’re planning an adventure. Fishing wise there are some great opportunities but nothing at current that would be called off the charts. The views are spectacular and the crowds have thinned. Remember to apply good fishing etiquette give your fellow angler some room. Something I’ve witnessed not to be the case in recent outings. A good saying if in doubt spread out. Don’t high hole or low hole you’re fellow angler. Communications is key and will go a long way.

Safe & fun adventures, Harry

The song remains the same! Low flows . There are about 6-8 stations to fish, fish are concentrated in those spots. Look for the deeper lies and areas that have some structure or pockets behind the boulders. Standard procedure good short drifts, lighter tippet and smaller flies get the job done. Make sure and check your fly as they don’t like any slime or salad. Remember no wading please! Hatch wise: Midges, scuds, SJ worms, Beatis. Make sure to keep the fish in the water.

Fishing remains steady. Brown trout in pre spawn mode. There has been consistent action through the wild trout area. Look for the ledges and slower seems and deeper pools to be the best areas to target .Flows holding at a winter levels below 100cfs very common for this time of year! Weather has been cold in the morning warming up near midday into the 40 you will need to dress in layers. Midges and Mayflies and the patterns to focus on a little flash in the fly will help. Use caution as the Brown trout have or will be starting their spawning so watch wading in the shallow riffles.

Flows are currently running below normal for this time of year. Current flows at present below Hot Creek confluences about 45 cfs. If you cover enough water you will find pods of fish. Some larger migrating Browns/Rainbow fish present not in any large concentration. Midges some Mayflies in the mid afternoon. Weather has been pretty cold in the long valley area morning lows could be near 0 warming to the 20s Dress in layers have a set of extra clothes with you. Line icing is a problem. Keep the fish in the water! Please let the fish spawn keep off the redd’s.
